Energy Minister directs to complete underground protection work on time

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has directed the concerned bodies to complete the work related to the protection of the Rupatal lake on time. While inspecting the work being done by the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Kaski for the protection of the Rupatal lake today, he directed to complete it as soon as possible.

‘The historical Rupatal lake has its own importance, add more manpower and work towards completing it in a timely manner,’ said Minister Khadka. He pledged that the ministry would make the necessary coordination to prevent budget shortage during the protection of the Rupatal lake.

Currently, the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Kaski is constructing a 590-meter earth and 45-meter concrete dam in the lake. The lake, which is spread over an area of 122 hectares, will be 183 hectares after damming.

Of the 1,100 ropanis of land that needs to be acquired to build a walkway around the lake, 900 ropanis have been acquired so far, informed the project chief, Bidurman Shrestha. Along with Energy Minister Khadka, Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma, Joint General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar, Central Member Yagya Bahadur Thapa and others were present for the inspection.
