Kathmandu. The Prime Minister’s Economic Advisor and former Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada has said that the situation is precarious because the old workforce is unemployed despite the possibility of providing employment to the newly added workforce.
Addressing the job fair that began in the federal capital on Monday, he said that it is difficult to immediately end foreign employment because the old workforce is unemployed despite the possibility of providing employment to the newly added workforce.
According to Khatiwada, foreign employment should now be made dignified, respected, and profitable, those who have returned from foreign employment should be re-integrated into the labor market, and the earnings they bring should be used to create self-employment and job opportunities. The Ministry of Labor should take into account the social security of Nepalis living abroad while making labor agreements. He said that the Nepal government should create a situation where the same employer guarantees social security to those who go abroad and take them for foreign employment.
While celebrating the Employment Decade for the next decade, we should create a situation where no one has to go for foreign employment after a decade, Khatibada said that there are some conditions for that. According to Khatiwada, to increase low wages and low productivity, technology, skills, and working styles should be changed. Khatiwada said that businesses can be competitive even by increasing wages. He said that the government has continuously increased the minimum wages on its own.
