Kathmandu. Members of the House of Representatives have drawn the government’s attention to resolving the problems of ‘social nurses’ by formulating a policy as soon as possible. In today’s meeting of the Women and Social Affairs Committee under the House of Representatives, the members of the House of Representatives emphasized that the problems of 210 social nurses who have spent their energetic time and energy in responsible government bodies for the past 23 years should be resolved as soon as possible.

MP Roshan Karki stated that the government should not exploit the labor of social nurses and said that after necessary discussions with the affected nurses, the government should formulate a policy to manage the labor in a way that respects their labor. He said that the federal government should solve the problem of social workers rather than the local and provincial governments.

MP Sushila Shreemaili Thakuri opined that the provincial government should take the initiative to solve the problem by formulating a clear procedure regarding social workers.

MP Laxmi Tiwari said that instead of one ministry pointing fingers at another, a solution should be found through discussions among the concerned bodies.

MP Saraswati Bajimayi stressed that the government had done injustice to social workers and emphasized the need to adopt an easy solution. .

On the same occasion, Kavita Sodari, coordinator of the National Campaign for Women Social Nurses, demanded that the amount of contribution made so far should be given to those who do not want to return to the service after reaching the age limit. She said that social nurses should also be included by conducting internal competition like women development employees.

‘The Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens should immediately launch programs with a budget to provide continuity of service to those who have been deprived of service. Social nurses working as liaisons, coordinators and facilitators for the target groups and communities should be returned to service. Every municipality should launch a revival campaign through the Women’s Development Program and immediately join/join the service,’ he said.

Currently, there is no uniformity in the working conditions, ranks, and remuneration of social nurses, so the social nurses demand that the sixth and seventh (senior social nurses) posts/categories should be established under the former Ministry of Local Development by making a procedure.

The nurses demand that the women appointed under the Women’s Development Program and the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens should also be maintained in the same way and discrimination should be ended.
