Kathmandu. The CPN-UML is going to reduce the number of central office bearers to 9. The party’s secretariat meeting held at the party’s central office in Chyasal on Sunday decided to reduce the number of central office bearers to 9.
After the meeting, announcing the decision to the media, party General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said that there will be 9 office bearers with one president, two vice-presidents including one woman, one general secretary, one deputy general secretary and secretaries with responsibilities (a treasurer will be arranged to look after propaganda, foreign affairs and organization and financial responsibilities).
It has also been decided that now the organizations will be only the central committee and the central secretariat. General Secretary Pokharel said that it has been decided to nominate Nawaraj Gelal as the Secretary of the Local Development Department and Ganesh Pandey as the Secretary of the Publicity and Publication Department. The meeting also decided to hold a national gathering with the participation of local level people’s representatives, including the mayor, chairperson, deputy mayor and vice chairperson, for the purpose of discussing the policy, program and budget. In the case of the provinces, it has been decided to organize a joint gathering with the Chief Minister, ministers and party leaders in the provinces and provincial office bearers including the chief whip and provincial in-charge to discuss the policy, program and budget.
He said that the party will play a role in creating a conducive environment to resolve the Pathibhara cable car dispute by discussing it with locals, people’s representatives and stakeholders and creating a conducive environment to move forward with the cable car construction process.
