Electricity Authority approved to buy CPTC shares worth Rs. 90 million

Kathmandu. The Electricity Authority has received approval to buy promoter shares worth 97.69 million rupees. The authority has received permission to buy shares for the expansion of transmission lines in Indian territory.

The government has agreed to invest in the construction of a transmission line from the Nepal-India border to Muzaffarpur, India (Indian section) under the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur 400 kV international electricity transmission line.

The Nepal Electricity Authority is going to buy the promoter shares of IL& FS Energy Development Company Limited (IEDCL), which is being sold by the Cross-Border Par Transmission (CPTC) company established for the expansion of transmission lines. The authority’s share is 29,73,163 promoter shares at a price of Rs. per share. The Authority has received approval to purchase at a rate of 19.05.

The Council of Ministers has decided to grant approval to the Nepal Electricity Authority to invest 97.966 Nepali rupees in accordance with Sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the Foreign Investment Prohibition Act, 2021 and a notification has been published in the Gazette.
