Egypt’s processed food exports to reach $6.1 billion in 2024

Agency. Egypt’s processed food exports reached a record $6.1 billion in 2024, a 21 percent increase compared to 2023, the country’s Food Export Council said.

This is the highest export value in the region’s history. Arab countries remained the top importers of Egyptian processed food, accounting for 54 percent of total exports in 2024, with purchases of about $3.28 billion, up 20 percent from 2023.

The European Union followed, importing about $1.17 billion, or 19 percent of total exports, up 32 percent. Non-Arab African countries registered a 10 percent increase, importing US$513 million, or 8 percent of total exports.

Among individual countries, Saudi Arabia led Egypt’s processed food imports with US$491 million. This was followed by Sudan, Libya, the United States, and Palestine. The Netherlands recorded an annual increase that more than doubled to US$259 million in 2024.

The most exported processed food products from Egypt in 2024 included soft drink concentrates, flour and semolina, sugar, frozen strawberries, edible oils, fruit juices, frozen vegetables, and frozen potatoes.
