Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the economy is moving towards a positive rhythm. He said this during the budget speech for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
Last year, the economic growth rate was 3.7 percent, which is expected to be 4.6 percent in the current fiscal year. He said that all sectors of the economy are expected to grow positively in the current fiscal year as compared to the negative growth rate in the last fiscal year in the sectors including industry, construction, wholesale and retail trade.
He said that the growth rate in electricity, transport and storage and financial and insurance services is expected to increase significantly. He claimed that an additional 339 MW of electricity has been generated by mid-April of the current fiscal year.
According to him, the number of tourist arrivals has increased by 13 percent to 923,000 as compared to the same period last year.
