Early warning system top priority for damage reduction: Minister Khadka

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has said that the government has given priority to the early warning system to minimize the damage caused by floods.

At a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee of the House of Representatives held at Singha Durbar today, he said the government has given special priority to the early warning system to minimize the damage caused by the rainy season.

Minister Khadka said, “The government is working to reduce the damage even if the people’s representatives working at the ward level can be informed about floods and landslides.” ‘

He said that taking more information about the weather forecast system through the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology would help in reducing the damage. Minister Khadka said that if the people’s representatives and the government were responsible in time, it would help in reducing the damage.

He said the ministry was working on how to make the electricity bill prosperous.
