Drug menace is alarming, bring it under control: Home Minister Lekhak

Kathmandu. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that the drug menace is increasing alarmingly across the country. He said this while speaking at the Madhes state-level security seminar in Janakpur on Friday.

Stating that it is necessary to control drugs, he said that road accidents are another serious problem in Nepal and around seven people die every day due to road accidents.

Stating that 17 people are dying every day due to suicide across the country and cyber crime has also become a serious problem, he directed the security agencies of the state to work to control the drug abuse.

Home Minister Lekhak said, “There is a big problem of drugs. There is a drug problem all over the country. It is important to control drugs. Road accidents are another major problem. About seven people die in road accidents in a day. Controlling road accidents is another important task. Around 17 people are committing suicide in a single day across the country. There is another cyber crime. It’s all connected to each other. People drive under the influence of drugs, accidents happen. He goes into depression by consuming drugs, there is tension in the family by consuming drugs, he commits suicide. Be careful about controlling drugs. ’

Stating that peace and security was the first condition and need of the country, Home Minister Lekhak said that the country’s development works would be hampered as soon as the peace and security situation weakens.
