Kathmandu. The assets of newly appointed Governor Bishwanath Poudel have been shown to be over Rs 320 million. According to the asset details submitted by Governor Poudel to the National Bank on Ashad 5, he has shares in seven different companies and houses in Lalitpur and Nawalparasi.
Governor Poudel’s wife Pratibha Sharma has shown a five-ana two-daam land in plot number 643 in Saimbu, Lalitpur and a 2,795 square foot house built on it in the asset details of Governor Poudel. The details mention that this land was purchased for Rs 15.5 million from ancestral property and self-earned money.
Similarly, land in plot number 4174 in Gaindakot, Nawalparasi and a house built on it are also shown as assets in Sharma’s name. It is mentioned that this land was purchased for Rs 60 lakh from ancestral property and self-earned money.
About 45 tolas of gold have been shown as ancestral property. According to its price on Wednesday (Asar 11), Rs 193,499 per tola comes to Rs 87,07,455.
Diamond jewelry worth Rs 1.5 million purchased from self-earned money has also been shown as Governor Poudel’s property. Bishwanath Poudel has a balance of Rs 1,323,192 in Sanima Bank, Rs 259,344 in Nepal Investment Mega Bank and US Dollar 66.78 in Sanima Bank. Similarly, Pratibha Sharma’s name is mentioned as having Rs 12,547 in Sanima Bank, Rs 473,822 in Prabhu Bank Limited and US Dollar 4,446 in Sanima Bank.
The asset statement mentions that Vishwanath Poudel has promoter and ordinary shares of various companies in his name. Of which, Sanima Bank has 244,176 promoter shares. The price of Sanima Bank’s promoter shares on the Nepal Stock Exchange on Wednesday (Ashar 11) is Rs 167 per share. Accordingly, the total value of those shares comes to Rs 47,777,392.
Governor Poudel has 188,000 shares of Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower in his name. The price of this share on Wednesday (Asar 11) is Rs 514 per share. Accordingly, the total value comes to Rs 96.632 crore.
Globe Pvt. Ltd. has 186,834 shares. This company is not listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange. Samyukta Urja Hydropower has 500,000 shares and Chitwan Energy Limited has 250,000 shares of promotion shares. Both these companies are not listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange.
Similarly, Poudel has 92,579 shares of Sanima Mai Hydropower in his name. According to the price of Nepse on Wednesday (Asar 11), it is Rs 612 per share. The total value of which comes to Rs 56.658 crores.
75,000 units of promoter shares of Globe Pvt. Ltd. in the name of Pratibha Sharma are also shown in Governor Poudel’s asset details. Similarly, a Suzuki car purchased in Sharma’s name in Bhadra 2077 for Rs 4.4 million is also disclosed in Governor Poudel’s asset details. Self-earned and ancestral property are shown as the source of most of the assets.
Governor Poudel appears smart in asset management.
Dr. Poudel appears weak in asset management. He has chosen the financial sector, hydropower, as an investment sector. When investing in Sanima Bank and Hydropower, you do not have to be aware of the investment situation every day. Apart from how strong the company’s financial condition is becoming, you do not have to spend much time on such an investment. Governor Poudel has chosen hydropower for investment because the lock-in period of hydropower opens in those years.
From his asset details, it does not appear that he has purchased shares in the secondary market. In terms of savings, Governor Poudel also seems to have saved more than 2.7 million. Governor Poudel, 48, who has spent a long time in the teaching profession, returned to Nepal after completing his PhD from the United States. He has also reached China in the course of his studies and teaching.
He has spent most of his time teaching in Nepali universities. He has been saying that teaching is one of his favorite professions. He has even become the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission.
