The power supply to the hospital was cut off from 10:30 pm on Friday to 1:00 am on Saturday. Electricity services have been disrupted as the hospital administration and management did not pay attention in time.

At that time, 17 patients were undergoing treatment in the ICU and CCU beds of the hospital. The patients were saved due to the necessary coordination and precautions taken by the doctors and nursing staff. Doctors and nurses had switched on lights from their mobile phones to treat the incident. Meanwhile, the District Administration Office has taken serious note of the incident of power cut in sensitive rooms like ICU and CCU of Narayani Hospital on Friday night.

The administration has directed to conduct an internal inquiry and take necessary action against the employees involved in irregularities in power supply. Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal and Parsa Police Chief Gautam Mishra held a joint meeting with narayani hospital development committee chairman, acting medical superintendent, chief of administration, doctors working in different departments and rooms of the hospital, nursing staff working in the nursing department, electricians and officials and employees of all the bodies associated with the hospital on Saturday. ।

“It is a very serious matter that electricity has been disrupted for two and a half hours in sensitive places like ICU and CCU of the hospital,” said CDO Aryal. Taking lessons from yesterday’s odd events, I instruct you not to repeat any such mistakes and weaknesses in the coming days. No one can play with people’s health. ’

Police Chief Mishra also requested the hospital administration to depute officials, including the electisian, on duty round-the-clock. “The non-availability of electricians in the intensive care unit of the hospital is also a serious matter,” he said, adding, “The staff on duty should be physically and mentally fit and have to bear their responsibilities.” ’

Narayani Hospital Development Committee Chairman Dhiraj Kumar Gupta has pledged not to repeat such incidents in the coming days as the incident that took place on Friday night is serious in nature.

Hospital’s officiating medical superintendent Chitraranjan Sah claimed that the incident took place due to poor wiring in the ICU and CCU rooms. “The hospital administration was preparing to send two sick patients in the ICU to another hospital and did not have to send them as soon as the electricity came,” he said. ’
