Chitwan. The Division Forest Office has grown 193,410 saplings for the current fiscal year. The saplings were produced and raised in the nursery located in the office premises.

According to Devi Prasad Poudel, the information officer of the office, the saplings were grown by the District Forest Produce Supply Committee and the Division Forest Office. They include herbaceous plants, grasses, fruits and multipurpose plants, and perennial plants. He said that 120,000 saplings were produced by the Supply Committee and 73,410 saplings were produced by the Division Forest Office. According to him, 30,000 saplings were herbaceous plants, 15,000 saplings were grasses, fruits and multipurpose plants, and 28,410 saplings were produced and raised through the Division Forest Office. The work of separating the varieties of plants produced by the Supply Committee is underway.

From here, grasses, large tree-like plants and multipurpose plants have been produced. Perennial plants are useful for planting in road areas. These plants are used to keep the roads green and beautiful. He said, ‘Perennial plants help in making tree plantations successful.’

Poudel said that since the number of plants from the previous year was less, more plants are being produced this year. Last year, the office had produced only 92 thousand plants. The committee produced 80 thousand and the Division Forest Office produced 12 thousand plants. He said, ‘Plant production has been going on for distribution since Asar 15.’ The office is currently producing more than 20 species of plants. Poudel said that it includes plants such as harro, barro, amla, neem, jamun, shrikhand, bel, tejpatta, chap, lemon, amba, vadahar, tanki, koirala, etc.
