Kathmandu. Gokarna Raj Awasthi, Director General of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has resigned from the post of Director of the Securities and Exchange Board of Nepal. Awasthi, who was appointed as a board member on Bhadra 4, 2081, has resigned from the board member citing work commitments.
Previously, Sur Krishna, Vice President of the Federation, was the Board Director. After the Board, Awasthi was appointed as a Board Director. According to sources, Director Awasthi had requested the Federation leadership to step down from the Board due to work commitments.
Now the Federation will send another person to the Board Director. It has been alleged that the functioning of the Securities and Exchange Board has become controversial in recent times. After Board Chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha started getting dragged into one controversy after another, the Board Directors themselves have started to feel embarrassed.
