Kailali. Due to incessant rains since last night, various areas including Dhangadhi Bazaar have been submerged today. Mainly, Dhangadhi’s Bishalnagar, Milanchowk, Shivanagar, Hasanpur, Campus Road, Malika Tole, Krishnanagar, the settlements on the south side of Purano Bhansar Katan village and other surrounding areas have been submerged.
Similarly, most of the shops have also been submerged. The heavy rain has completely filled the roads and drains, making it difficult for the general public to walk on the roads. Due to unorganized and old drains, even a little excess water cannot be drained, which creates such a situation every year during the rainy season.
Locals say that the settlements here are submerged every year due to encroachment on the old rivers and canals that drain water. Local leader Shivraj Joshi said that the settlement is also being flooded because the roads are being paved without proper drainage management.
Ward No. 2 Chairman Dharmaraj Ojha said that the problem of flooding is recurring because the old rivers and canals that drain water have been destroyed. Although various places in Dhangadhi were submerged, there was no human or material damage, according to the District Police Office, Kailali.
