Kathmandu. Bagmati Province’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Suraj Chandra Lamichhane, has said that the development of technology has played an important role in implementing good governance and transparency. Addressing a program organized on the occasion of Information and Communication Technology Day, he said that new technologies are helping in the overall development of the country.
He stressed that the private sector, government and civil society should move forward together for the development of information and communication by making the best use of technology. He informed that the provincial government is conducting a feasibility study to establish a data center as a basic infrastructure for Digital Bagmati.
He said that by making proper use of technology, work is being done to build digital Bagmati, including telemedicine in health, mandatory use of license print and embossed numbers in transportation, handover of equipment for vehicle license verification, and construction of digital labs for crime control.
He said, “If the NITI Aayog understands the budget for the construction of Digital Bagmati, it will be easier to work in the field of technology. The government has taken the idea of digital issues among the work responsibilities of the ministry. There is a problem in making Digital Bagmati work as the government does not have the budget as planned. Stakeholders along with the private sector should take the initiative for Digital Bagmati.” I urge you to create a digital Bagmati and invest in the indispensable information and communication technology sector.’
He mentioned that the provincial government needs suggestions from the provincial government, stakeholders, and organizations working in the communication technology sector for the construction of a digital Bagmati.
