Tanahun. Former Energy Minister and Spokesperson of The Nepali Congress. Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that the development of the energy sector is essential for the economic development of the country. After inspecting the under-construction 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project this morning, he stressed the need of taking the nation forward on the path of prosperity by making optimum use of the abundant water resources available in the country.
He stressed the need of completing the Tanahun Hydropower Project within the stipulated time as the country could be made prosperous by selling electricity along with industrial development through energy and import of petroleum products could also be reduced through the use of electric vehicles.
Leader Mahat, who is also the spokesperson of the party, inspected the package of the project and the power house. Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari briefed him about the progress made in the project so far.
