Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the government to make necessary preparations for the onset of monsoon. He said this while addressing a dialogue programme on environment and climate change concerns organized at the party’s central office sanepa on Sunday.
He urged the Government of Nepal to take immediate steps for precautions, precautions and preparedness to avoid floods, landslides, inundation and loss of life and property due to infectious diseases.
He said Nepal now needs sustainable development and not development. He said it was their duty to hand over a clean and secure Nepal to the next generation.
President Deuba said, “The damage has increased due to neglect of environmental aspects during the construction of development structures. The monsoon began to begin. In view of the forecast of more rainfall and higher temperature this time, I urge the Government of Nepal to take immediate steps for precaution, vigilance and preparedness to avoid floods, landslides, inundation and loss of life and property due to infectious diseases. What we need now is sustainable development, not construction. It is our duty to hand over a clean and secure Nepal to the next generation. ’
President Deuba said that climate change has seriously affected the pillars of Nepal’s economy such as agriculture, tourism and hydropower. He argued that this has increased economic and social discrimination and increased the risk to the economy.
