Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSSP) Vice President Swarnim Wagle has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year brought by the government was not provocative and irresponsible.
Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said this while commenting on the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83 PRESENTed in the Parliament on Thursday.
Stating that the size of Nepal’s economy has been estimated at Rs 6.1 trillion, he expressed the belief that the economy would expand to Rs 6.7 trillion by adding 5 per cent economic growth and 5.5 per cent inflation.
He also said that the budget brought by the government is a continuation of tradition. Wagle also said that he is worried that he will blow the budget in a big way during the budget speech in the upcoming fiscal year and will fall prey to the old disease of drying up on demand.
“We are of the view that the budget presented by the government today is not too provocative and irresponsible,” he said. Recently, the National Planning Commission has projected the size of our economy at Rs 6.1 trillion. By adding 5 percent economic growth and 5.5 percent inflation to increase it to 11.5 percent, then by the end of this budget, the economy of the Government of Nepal will be 6.7 trillion rupees. Therefore, we have not considered the budget presented by the Finance Minister as very irresponsible. However, we are worried that after the earthquake, we will fall prey to the old disease of blowing the budget in a big way and drying up on demand. ’
Wagle said that although the budget brought by the government is not provocative, there is no basis for spending more than Rs 1.6 trillion.
