Dengue spreads to 73 districts, 35 infected in a week

Kathmandu. A total of 1,673 cases of dengue have been confirmed between December and June 15. According to the government, a total of 1,673 cases of dengue have been confirmed in 73 districts from January 20, 2018 to July 20, 2018.

At a press conference on Friday, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said that no case of dengue infection has been reported so far this year in the four himalayan districts (Dolpa, Humla, Manang and Rasuwa). Bagmati Province has the highest number of confirmed cases at 404, Gandaki Province at 358 and Koshi Province at 334. Kathmandu has the highest number of dengue cases at 178, followed by Kaski at 134 and Sunsari at 105.

“Sub-section 6 of Section 9 of the Second Amendment to the Health Insurance Act, 2074 bs and Clause 6 of Rule 2 of the First Amendment to the Regulations 2075 BS have provided that the first service point will remain only in the government health institutions.

According to Budhathoki, symptoms such as high fever, joint and muscle pain, eye pain, headache, red worms in the body, nausea or vomiting are seen during dengue infection.

About 80 percent of dengue cases are asymptomatic.

He said, “The meeting of the Board held on June 29 decided to remove the first service point from the health institutions other than the government service providers who have been serving the insured as the first service point in the past as the first service point of sub-section 6 of section 9 and clause 6 of rule 2 of the first amendment of the Regulations 2075 have provided that the first service point will remain only in the government health institutions. According to this decision, the cable will now remain only in the government health institutions as the first service point. ‘

“With the onset of monsoon, the number of mosquitoes is increasing. Which has increased the risk of diseases including dengue. A total of 1,673 cases of dengue have been confirmed in 73 districts of Nepal from January 20, 2018 to July 1, 2018. Bagmati Province has the highest number of confirmed cases at 404, Gandaki Province at 358 and Koshi Province at 334. The highest number of 178 cases have been registered in Kathmandu, 134 in Kaski and 105 in Sunsari. Four mountainous districts, Dolpa, Humla, Manang and Rasuwa have not reported cases so far this year,” he said.

According to him, covid-19 infection has started appearing in other districts of Nepal as well. According to him, 243 cases of Covid-19 were registered from 31 districts of Nepal from January 1, 2081 to July 20, 2018. Spokesperson Budhathoki said that coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 35 people in Nepal in the last one week. He said the government has made covid-19 surveillance more effective at health desks at 17 border points in view of the risk of Covid-19.

Spokesperson Budhathoki said pashupatinagar health desk, Mechi health desk, Rani health desk in Koshi province, mother health desk in Madhes province, Birtamod, Gaur health desk, Inaruwa Birgunj health desk, Galaiya health desk in Lumbini, Krishnanagar health desk, Jamuna health desk, Triveni health desk in Gandaki, Trinagar health desk, Gaddachauki health desk, Jhulaghat health desk, Kulaghat health desk, Tikapur health desk and Tribhuvan International Airport are being monitored.
