Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the demands of teachers will be addressed through negotiations. Speaking at the Finance Committee meeting on Wednesday, he said that major wars in the world and the 10-year armed conflict in Nepal have been ended through negotiations, and that the demands of teachers will also be resolved through negotiations.

He stressed that the problem will now be resolved through negotiations even if the demands were resolved through a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Science and Technology. He said that although there was an informal agreement between the government and the teachers through the Council of Ministers that the government would address the demands and the teachers would withdraw the agitation and return to work, the teachers have not moved forward accordingly.

He also said that the government is in favor of passing the bill as soon as possible from the upcoming session. He said that the government is still in favor of a quick and positive solution to the problem. Deputy Prime Minister Poudel said that the current government will listen to the problems of any class and community, including teachers, and solve them through capacity building.
