Kathmandu. Nine different organizations related to cooperative savers have demanded that the savings of the savers be returned as soon as possible. The National Campaign for the Protection of Cooperative Savers (NCPC), the Struggle Committee against Microfinance and Financial Exploitation, and the Search for Truth and Justice Campaign, among others, held a joint press conference here today and demanded that the savings of the savers be returned as soon as possible and action be taken against the operators who misappropriated the funds as per the law.
President of the National Campaign for the Protection of Cooperative Savers (NCPC) Kushal KC said that the government should not delay in taking action against cooperative organizations that have been financially exploiting them for years and providing justice to the victims. Maniram Gyawali, chairman of the Committee for the Struggle against Microfinance and Financial Exploitation, accused the government of delaying justice despite the victims’ continuous struggle for justice.
Senior advocate Dr. Surendra Bhandari suggested that the government should set up a fund of the necessary amount for the victims’ justice and pay them and bring the misappropriating institutions and individuals under the ambit of action to recover the money. The coordinator of the Farmers’ and Workers’ Movement against Financial Exploitation demanded that the government solve the meter interest problem.
