Kathmandu. Tourism professionals and local stakeholders have emphasized on creating an environment for investment in tourism development and infrastructure in the Rara region, which has not yet reaped the expected benefits despite its tourism potential.
During the Rara visit of tourism professionals organized with the aim of operating a regular Kathmandu-Rara tourist bus service, speakers at an interaction held in Salleri, Mugu on Monday pointed out that the quality of tourism service delivery at the local level needs to be improved, as well as additional support for training, coaching, and quality hotel infrastructure.
In the program, local Chhatra Saud expressed gratitude for prioritizing Rara and expressed confidence that it will have a positive impact on local living standards and economic activities. Rara hotelier Devi Krishna Rokaya said that the quality of tourism service delivery at the local level needs to be improved. He pointed out that additional support is needed for training, coaching and quality hotel infrastructure.
Senior Director of the Board, Hikmat Singh Air, said that the excellent destination Rara has been structurally developed a lot. He said that regular air flights and road networks have made Rara accessible and there is a reliable system for guest management.
Director Air stressed that initiatives should be taken to take tourists from all over the world to Rara as Rara is an excellent destination for eco-tourism and film shooting. Bhishma Neupane, President of TWAN, said that despite some challenges in operating tourist buses in the Rara region, the association is ready. He said that it is necessary to organize roadside hotels and improve hospitality services for local residents.
A team of 22 members of the Tourist Bus Entrepreneurs Association Nepal (TBEN) in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board has completed an observation tour of the Rara region with the aim of operating a regular tourist bus service from Kathmandu to Rara. The team included the board, tourist bus entrepreneurs, local communities, hotel entrepreneurs from Mugu, representatives of Rara National Park, and local people’s representatives.
The Nepal Tourism Board has expressed its commitment to coordinate the feasibility of operating a Kathmandu-Rara tourist bus service and the necessary infrastructure development related to it. Additionally, a statement issued by the board states that hotel upgrades, local manpower training, tourist service improvements, and international promotion will be prioritized to promote tourism in the Rara region.
