Kathmandu. Foreign aid receipts have decreased in recent years. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel presented the ‘Economic Survey 2081 BS’ in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. “In the fiscal year 2080/81 BS, the total foreign assistance received in the federal consolidated fund is Rs 137.28 billion, including Rs 24.01 billion in foreign grants and Rs 113.27 billion in foreign loans. ”
According to the government, the share of loans and grants out of the total foreign aid receipts during this period was 82.5 percent and 17.5 percent respectively. In the fiscal year 2080/81 BS, the receipt of foreign aid to GDP was 2.4 percent. “Total foreign aid receipts including Rs 9.16 billion in foreign grants and Rs 65.74 billion in foreign loans have reached Rs 74.63 billion in the current fiscal year, an increase of 13.8 per cent over the same period last fiscal year,” the survey said.
The index of public finance has been normal till Mid-February of the current fiscal year. The government’s budget deficit and fiscal deficit have improved during this period as the federal revenue mobilization has increased by 12.6 percent. According to the survey, both the primary balance and revenue balance are in savings. There has been a significant increase in foreign aid commitments.
