Dang. Farmers here are struggling to bring in cash crops. Farmers are busy storing wheat, barley, mustard and lentils. Most farmers are using machines to bring in the crops.
Shyam Chaudhary of Gurubagaun, Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City-6 has cultivated mustard, lentils, wheat and barley in a two-bigha field. He has been using machines to plow the fields and bring in the crops. ‘There are no farmers working in the fields, farming has become easier with the help of machines. I plow the fields with a hand tractor to cultivate mustard. Uj said that the thresher has been used to thresh mustard, wheat and lentils.
The use of machines has made farming easier, he said. Asharam Chaudhary of Karjahi, Ghorahi-17 also threshed barley, wheat and mustard using a thresher. ‘It used to take four to five days to plant, but now it has become easier with the help of a thresher. Farmers have been relieved as more work can be done in less time through the thresher,’ he said.
Mayor Narulal Chaudhar said that the Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City has been distributing hand tractors, threshers, fertilizer spreading machines, and irrigation equipment on a grant basis. He said, ‘Based on demand, the municipality has been distributing equipment including threshers at half the rate.’
