Kathmandu. Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Construction Entrepreneurs (FNCE), Ravi Singh, has urged the cement industry to stop syndicates in the construction industry. Speaking at the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee meeting held in Sindarbar on Tuesday, he made this demand.
He said that even though the development period is about to end, they are confused due to the increase in cement prices. He alleges that the cement and cement entrepreneurs formed a syndicate after consulting. Chairman Singh mentioned that the price of a cement rod, which was available for Rs 76, was increased to Rs 90 two weeks ago.
He drew the attention of the Ministry of Industry, saying that development work is being stopped due to the increase in prices by cement and cement entrepreneurs. He asked whether the country should move towards an open economy policy or towards a syndicate? He also asked questions.
He said, ‘Our construction period is about to end. We are still confused. Now it is not limited to cement alone. The price of graving wire has been increased by Rs 12. It has been syndicated after consultation. Along with cement, the price of rods has also been increased. The price of rods was Rs 76 2 weeks ago. Today’s price is Rs 90. And the target is to reach Rs 105 with a possible increase. That is an open market policy. They have decided to sit down and discuss and set a fixed price and if it is exceeded, it will be canceled. Thus, whether the country will go to an open economy policy or a syndicate, you have kept this in mind.’
Businessmen have demanded an increase in electricity supply, saying that they are forced to increase the prices of cement and rods due to load shedding. Saurabh Group Chairman Bishnu Neupane said that electricity supply should be provided 24 hours a day, even if it is 5 megawatts.
He said that steel businessmen are in trouble because the Ministry of Forests and the Ministry of Industry did not pay attention to the company’s files, and explained that the price increase was due to the fact that they had to sell rods at a loss of 10 percent due to problems including load shedding. He said that the government is ready to reduce the price once the problems are addressed.
