Crowds of worshippers worship Seto Machhindranath in Asan

Kathmandu. The White Machhindranath Puja, which began on Saturday, has attracted a crowd of worshippers. On the eighth day of Chaitra Shukla Ashtami, the chariot of Seto Machhindranath was brought to Asan.

A significant number of people can be seen worshipping Seto Machhindranath in Asan since morning today. The chariot procession of Machhindranath, which began on Saturday, has reached Asan via Tindhara Pathshala, Jamal, Ratnapark, and Bhotahiti.

The chariot procession of Seto Machhindranath is a festival celebrated by carrying a chariot procession of the idol of Arya Avalokiteshwar, who is considered the god of rain and seasons. It is customary to take the chariot around the city to offer darshan to the residents of Kathmandu Valley.

The white Machhindranath, also known as Karunamayya and Arya Avalokiteshwar, is taken around the city from Janabahal and then replaced in a chariot made in Jamal. On the last day, the chariot is taken around Machhindranath’s mother at Lagantol three times, and the procession ends.

The chariot of the white Machhindranath is taken from Machhindranath Bahal, through Tindhara Pathshala, Jamal, Ratnapark, Bhotahiti, via Asan, Balkumari, Kel Tole, Indrachowk Makhan, Hanuman Dhoka, Chinkmugal, Jaishideval, Jyabahal, and Lagan.
