Kathmandu. National Assembly member JitJung Basnet has said corruption would not stop in the country until the salary of employees is increased. He said this while participating in a discussion on the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS in the National Assembly meeting on Friday.
He said that it has been heard a lot that the employees did not work and were corrupt, adding that the salary of the employees could not be eaten. Basnet said that inflation and black marketing have increased in the country, adding that it would be difficult for the employees to survive due to the cost of transport and education.
Stating that there are two types of corruption, he said that the first is due to mentality and the second due to hungry stomach. Stating that hungry stomach would not work in the country, he stressed the need to increase the service facilities of the employees.
He said, “We have heard a lot here that the employees did not work, the employees did not work, the employees were corrupt. Are employees really corrupt? We have seen the salary scale of the employees, the price of the country is high, there is black marketing. Let’s look at the pay scale of police, army and armed forces. Look at the salary scale of the private sector, look at the salary scale of the public sector, will it eat? Nepal’s salary range does not exceed Rs 26,000 to Rs 80,000. Can that range survive and eat? There are two types of corruption. ‘
“Corruption from mentality, whether it is poverty, rich, it corrupts. Second, a hungry stomach corrupts. House rent is so expensive, transportation, education are so expensive, and how will employees survive? Corruption will not stop in this country if we do not increase the salary now. I don’t think a hungry stomach works in this country. We have to increase the service facilities of the employees,” he said.
He claimed that the budget brought by the government was not only a document of the ruling party but also a symbol of common national aspirations.
