Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that with the rapid development and use of information technology, the methods and trends of corruption have become more complex.
Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 34th founding day of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority in Kathmandu on Monday, he said this.
He said, “The unnecessary lust for power leads people to corruption by misusing procedures and responsibilities. With the rapid development and use of information technology, the methods and trends of corruption have become more complex. The nature and form of corruption are changing. Accordingly, the investigation and prosecution process should be adopted and modernized.’
Similarly, he held the view that without good governance and transparency, the fruits of democracy cannot be brought to the doorsteps of the people. He said that for the sake of the country and the international image, while fulfilling the high aspirations for good governance, we should work by making ethics, impartiality, and transparency the main mantra.
He said, ‘Without good governance and transparency, the fruits of democracy cannot be brought to the doorsteps of the people. By qualitatively improving the living standards of the citizens, we should work by making ethics, impartiality, and transparency the main mantra for the sake of the country and the international image. The need of the day is to develop a system of discipline and ethics by making the efforts to reform policies, procedures, and trends effective.
President Poudel said that there were complaints that some problems had arisen even after the bills related to corruption were not resolved for a long time, and said, “I would like to draw the attention of the relevant parties to this. Since Nepal is also a party to the International Convention on the Control of Corruption, I also feel that it is necessary to amend our laws and mechanisms in accordance with the provisions mentioned in it.”
