Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has said that it has completed all the preparatory work to prevent the spread of infection in Nepal as the infection rate of corona infection has increased rapidly in neighboring India. According to the Ministry, preparations are being made based on the past experience that the infection seen in neighboring India entered Nepal within 15 days.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, said preparations have been underway for the past two weeks in view of the rapid spread of infection and some deaths in India. Spokesperson Dr Budhathoki said that the past experience has shown that the increase in infection in the neighborhood will come to Nepal sooner or later.

As part of the preparations, health workers working at 17 border points and three air points and health desks with India have been kept on standby, he said. He said that everyone entering the checkpoint is being asked to stay in self-isolation for a week even if they are found negative or positive during the RDT test of corona.

Spokesperson Budhathoki said that people with symptoms similar to COVID-19 are urged to self-isolate for a week, whether within the country or outside the country, and to go to the nearest health facility immediately if they have breathing problems or further complications for any reason.

He said, “We have been preparing for almost two weeks as past experience has shown that the infection in India will come to Nepal in 10 days and 15 days sooner or later after the recent increase in infections in our neighboring country India and after the occurrence of some deaths.” And, as part of the preparations, we have alerted the health workers working at the health desks at 17 places and three air points to prevent the infection from entering Nepal from India. ’

No shortage of health infrastructure and manpower in corona treatment

Dr Budhathoki said there was no shortage of infrastructure and human resources for coronavirus. Stating that it would be easier to treat and manage even if the infection has increased, he said that the emergency management response team is ready to start the work within five minutes.

Arrangements have also been made for 25 hub hospitals and more than 2,000 satellite hospitals across the country. Arrangements have been made for the centre and the state to report more than 600 laboratories across the country to monitor covid response, he added.

He said that preparations have been made so that the available resources, resources and infrastructure can sustain the population of 90,000 to 100,000 if the infection increases.

“We have also activated health emergency operation centres in all seven provinces. Reports from more than 600 laboratories across the country for diagnosis and monitoring are being monitored by the Centre and the state. We have also kept the hospitals ready to ensure that the infection does not spread further and there is no loss of life and property if the infection spreads for any reason. We have also kept the rapid response teams in each ward ready even if the emergency medical team has to be mobilized tomorrow. But we all know the government’s resources, resources, the infrastructure of the government. ‘

“If you go to the hospital from Rs 90,000 to Rs 100,000, the government structure and the government’s preparedness will stop you. But if we have to go to the hospital above that, then we cannot stop the beds, manpower structure, preparedness and equipment, so we have asked the general public to follow the public health standards to reduce the infection rate, do not go to the crowded areas, walk only wearing masks, wash hands with soap and water, keep the relatives from the affected areas in quarantine for a week. If the common Nepali takes precautions in this regard, we can defeat Covid with our preparedness,” he added.

Monsoon outbreaks and corona infections may cause problems

In Nepal, the infection of mansu-borne diseases is increasing rapidly every year. In the last few years, diseases like diarrhoea, respiratory disease, typhoid and cholera have been found to be fatal during the monsoon. Spokesperson Dr Budhathoki shared that preparations are being carried out keeping in view the risk of water-borne diseases and infections seen during the monsoon and the spread of insect-borne diseases and infections like dengue and malaria.

He said that the general public should also take initiative to remain alert about the monsoon outbreak and corona infection. Spokesperson Dr Budhathoki urged the general Nepali citizens to be alert and active and adopt awareness accordingly as it is not possible to prevent the infection only through the initiative of the government alone.

He said that if the citizens do not adopt awareness and do not follow the government’s request, then the limited resources available with the government can treat everyone.

“Monsoon-borne diseases, whether it is water-polluted diseases, whether it is diseases like mosquitoes caused by mosquitoes accumulating in pits,” he said. All of them have to be addressed by the same health institution and preparedness, so if the common Nepali citizens do not eat public health standards, health awareness, purify drinking water and do not eat food stale, do not eat fast food, do not smoke alcohol, do not consume drugs, then we can reduce the challenges of our monsoon and weather along with the challenges of Covid. ’

Relief rescue is not affected due to lack of health supplies

He said that the Ministry of Health is holding virtual and direct meetings with the three levels of government to prevent various outbreaks. How much will the local level buy out of the stock of materials required for disaster preparedness and relief and rescue? He said that the province has already decided how much to buy and how much the association will buy.

Stating that the work would not be stopped due to lack of materials like in the past, he said that the Ministry of Health was coordinating to study the area, where there is a crisis and to keep the rapid response teams ready across the country by forming rapid response teams with the involvement of the people’s representatives present there.

He also said that the ministry’s hotline number, hello health number, state-level emergency service contact number and local level emergency service contact number can be informed for the immediate rescue of those affected by the disaster.

“We have various difficulties in the mountains, hills and terai geographically. As a result, roads or vehicles or anything else may not be available or closed. We have also kept emergency logistics tankers in 25 hub hospitals to prepare for this. Similarly, district hospitals and other health institutions, private, cooperative and government should store emergency logistics in advance for disasters. We have also made preparations to make the canteens there store for at least 15 days. Accordingly, we have prepared all satellite hospitals and hub hospitals from Mechi to Mahakali. ’

Dr Budhathoki said that the Ministry of Health is working in such a way that the current monsoon will be hotter than the previous year and more rainfall will occur.

On the one hand, there is a risk of excessive rainfall, snow and landslides due to climate change in the western and northern regions of Nepal, while in the Terai region, there is a risk of heat wave and heat stroke due to extreme heat, so the Ministry is working on a separate strategy.

He said that the subordinate bodies have been instructed to respond in a new way to the work done in the past and the experience gained from it.

He said that in view of the situation of disruption of the road where the monsoon is active, the emergency services of health have been prepared for relief and rescue by way, if possible, through the road and if possible, through the air route, with the help of the Nepal Army and cooperation with various agencies and also with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
