Kathmandu. Director General Chandi Prasad Ghimire’s time in the Revenue Investigation Department has expired due to age restrictions.
Although Asar 15 was his last day, he resigned and retired 2 months earlier. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had given Ghimire the responsibility of Director General on Bhadra 7, 2081.
His 10-month tenure was surrounded by controversy. The Nepal Police was allowed to investigate 250 million illegal currency, but the department was able to conduct only a very weak investigation.
During Ghimire’s tenure, the government has decided to abolish the Revenue Investigation Department within 1 year. Similarly, the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Act 2052 was repealed during his tenure. Businessmen allege that after he became the Director General, most of the time he only worked to arrest businessmen.
The investigation into Simex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., which sells electric vehicles in Nepal, which was involved in a tax evasion worth billions, was put on hold for 10 months. A complaint has also been registered against him with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on charges of corruption for not investigating the tax evasion in electric vehicles by conducting a raid.
According to sources, he has started lobbying to become the Commissioner of Atiyar after his retirement.
