Kathmandu. The annual point-wise consumer inflation stood at 2.77 per cent in April 2018. The inflation was 4.40 per cent in the same month last year.
Inflation in the food and beverages category stood at 1.52 per cent and that in the non-food and services category at 3.45 per cent. Inflation in these groups was 6.41 per cent and 3.09 per cent, respectively, in the same period last year.
In the review month, the annual point-wise consumer price index of ghee and oil sub-group under food and beverages group increased by 11.08 percent, fruits by 6.15 percent, pulses and beans by 5.17 percent and non-alcoholic beverages by 4.70 percent, while the annual point-wise consumer price index of vegetables sub-group decreased by 8.11 percent, marmala by 2.20 percent and fish and meat by 0.48 percent.
Under the non-food and services group, the annual point-wise consumer price index of various goods and services sub-groups increased by 9.04 percent, education by 5.88 percent, textiles and footwear by 5.23 percent, furnishing and household appliances by 3.99 percent and restaurant and housing services by 3.16 percent.
In the review month, the annual point-wise consumer price index of rural areas increased by 3.21 percent and the annual point-wise consumer price index of urban areas increased by 2.61 percent.
Province-wise, the annual point-wise consumer inflation of Koshi Province was 4.29 percent, Madhes Province 2.81 percent, Bagmati Province 2.40 percent, Gandaki Province 2.23 percent, Lumbini Province 2.15 percent, Karnali Province 2.21 percent and Sudurpaschim Province 3.14 percent.
In the review month, the annual point-wise consumer inflation in The Kathmandu Valley was 2.64 percent, 2.64 percent in the Tarai, 2.65 percent in the hills and 4.01 percent in the Mountains.
