Kathmandu. The construction of the temporary building of bagmati provincial assembly building, which was laid five years ago, is yet to be completed. Even after half the second term of the Provincial Assembly, the provincial assembly building has not been built to make laws.
The provincial assembly, which had started its operations from its meeting on March 14, 2018, had laid the foundation stone of the temporary building only on November 15, 2018. Arghakhanchi-Sagun-Paramount JV was awarded the contract to construct the building at a cost of Rs 49.49 million on October 19, 2018, to complete the work in 18 months.
Arghakhanchi-Sagun-Paramount JV constructed the prefab structure late and the urban building office had signed a contract with Siundi Construction Service on March 27, 2080 for Rs 35.36 million.
According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, the construction of temporary structures from the prefab within the land of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat at Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-10 has been completed recently and the work of furniture and electrical equipment is going on.
The provincial assembly itself has worked on the contract for the work of furniture and electrical equipment. A contract was signed with Siundi International Pvt Ltd on February 24, 2081 for furniture and furniture work in the building at a cost of Rs 22.47 million. According to the agreement, the furniture work was to be completed within three months.
Manoj Kumar Gupta, spokesperson of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, said that the construction company had delayed the completion of the furniture and electrical equipment by May 15.
The building was constructed in 2077 BS for temporary use after the state government failed to construct a permanent structure. The current assembly hall of the provincial assembly is narrow for 110 provincial assembly members. As many chairs have been placed in the narrow assembly hall, it is difficult for the provincial assembly members to move and sit easily.
The Provincial Assembly Secretariat is currently operating in the building of the then Central Regional Directorate of Education under the federal government.
