Myagdi. A shelter, trekking route, public toilet and other structures have been constructed at Khopralek (Khopara), a tourist spot in Annapurna Rural Municipality-5. Arrangements have been made for clean drinking water by constructing shelters, footpaths, public toilets and other structures for the convenience of tourists coming here.

The Tourism and Industry Office, Myagdi, has implemented the Khopara Tourism Infrastructure Project through a consumer committee with a budget of Rs 2 million from the Gandaki state government, office chief Amrit Kandel said. According to him, a shelter with a capacity of around 150 people, two public toilets and a 500-metre trekking route have been constructed on the cliff leading to Bayali from Khopra.

Stating that stones have also been laid on the trekking route, Kandel said an iron railing has been placed on the 60-metre-long side of the trekking route. “The 1,800-metre pipe installed last year has been buried in the ground. The building of the community lodge constructed earlier has been constructed with paint and well-painted culverts,” he said.

The labourers of Pauddhar village stayed there for 45 days to run the project at Khopra, located at an altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level. Hari Prasad Tilija, chairman of the consumer committee, said that 28 people stayed in the respective places and worked in the evening as it was far away from the village. Last year, tourism infrastructure was constructed here with a budget of Rs 1.2 million received by the state government.

This place, called Khopara by the locals, is known as Khopra in the tourism sector. With the expansion of the road, Khopra has been made an alternative destination to extend the stay and travel period of tourists cut short on the Annapurna circuit trekking route. Khopara falls under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAMP). Located in a steep geography on the top of the hill in the middle of the forests of Gurans, Khopara is a biodiversity-rich place.

Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Gurja Mountain, Sunrise, Sunset, Hilly Geography, Forests, Wildlife, Cattle Sheds, Lakes and Waterfalls can be seen from here. Rajesh Tilija Pun, ward chair of Annapurna Rural Municipality-5, said that the new building of the shelter has been constructed to increase the capacity of the community lodge run by the Tourism Cooperative Society.
