Taplejung. Construction of kathe bridge has begun in Maiwakhola rural municipality through janshramdan campaign. The construction of temporary motorable kathe bridges has been started at Ekbase Neruwa khola and Mangmaya rivulet at Maiwakhola-4, Sanghu.
According to the municipality office, the construction of the bridge has been started under the leadership of rural municipality chair Bijaya Prakash Banem and with the participation of the local community. The kathe motorable bridge will be constructed at Neruwakhola by donating labour worth Rs 350,000, said Vanem.
The rural municipality will provide vacuum loaders(machines), tractors and wire mesh used in the construction of the bridge, while other necessary materials will be collected through shramdaan, he said. According to Vanem, a temporary motorable bridge is being constructed on mangmaya rivulet through shramdaan worth Rs 150,000.
Chairman Vanem said that the kathe bridge has been constructed as the locals face problems in commuting during the rainy season. According to him, a temporary wooden bridge is being constructed so that pedestrians can easily move around with vehicles.
The municipality has been running shramdaan campaign since the past with the participation of local citizens, toll development organizations and youth of the area for the construction of kathe bridge.
