Mahottari: Officials of the Land Problems Resolution Commission have expressed their commitment to resolve land-related issues within three years. The commission officials made this commitment at the Madhesh province-level interaction with stakeholders organized by the commission in Bardibas on Wednesday.
‘The current commission will be able to provide landownership certificates to all landless and unorganized settlers within three years of its tenure,’ said the commission’s central chairman Hari Prasad Rijal, expressing his commitment at the program, adding, ‘For this work, solution-oriented cooperation between the three levels of government, stakeholders and related parties is indispensable.’ He said that for this, the commission is currently working on identifying current land-related problems, prioritizing works and amending the land-related ordinance.
In the program, the commission officials analyzed the issues of management of landless Dalits, squatters and unorganized settlers and worked on a schedule to complete it within three years. He said that it has been started. ‘We are moving forward by focusing on the problems and examining them in a subtle manner’, Jagat Basnet, an expert member of the Commission, said at the program, ‘The process of identifying problems through open discussions and interaction is ongoing, we have put the work on schedule’, Basnet said, ‘These problems will be resolved within three years, landless Dalits, squatters and all unorganized settlers will receive land ownership certificates.’
Similarly, Krishna Prasai, a central member of the Commission, urged the district officials of the Commission to focus on work according to the law and not focus on crowding and noise. At the program, Mahottari Chairman of the Commission, Pitambar Mahato, expressed his determination to resolve the land problems within the district by adopting the policy specified by the Commission.
The program, which was attended by Commission officials from all eight districts of Madhes Province, heads of survey and land revenue offices, land experts, and leaders of the land rights movement, was held under the chairmanship of Central Member of the Commission and Madhes Province Coordinator Aarti Bhandari.
After the Commission said that the work was progressing at a fast pace, new hope has arisen for the squatters and unorganized settlers of Mahottari who have not received land ownership certificates for years, said Rajkumar Basnet, leader of the land rights movement in Mahottari. .
