Life has been affected by cold wave in various areas of the Terai, including Janakpurdham in Madhesh Province.
After the sudden cold wind and cold rain last night, the Janakpurdham area has felt extremely cold. Rural life has come to a standstill due to extreme cold and lack of sunshine.
Daily wage earners and laborers have been hit hard. Life in Madhesh comes to a standstill until 10 am. Locals say that the fog opens only in the afternoon. The poor and the needy are facing a lot of problems due to the cold.
Locals say that the current weather is affecting children the most. Locals say that the weather is expected to clear up in a few days. Due to thick fog/mist, planes have not been able to take off in Janakpur.
Locals have been using fire to warm themselves and burning straw in rural areas to ward off the cold. Due to this, there is also a risk of fire accidents.
