Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has made it clear that climate change is no longer a distant threat. Prime Minister Oli said this while addressing the inaugural session of Sagarmatha Sambad which started in Kathmandu from Shukraba.
“Climate change is no longer a far-flung threat,” he said, adding that it is now the biggest challenge of the times. It will have a big impact on the earth, people and prosperity. Stating that no society is completely vulnerable to climate change, he said nepal is suffering the most even though it has no role to play in the impact of climate change.
“Climate change is no longer a threat. This is the biggest challenge of our time. It wraps up everything — our earth, our people, and our shared prosperity. No nation is immune to this. No society is completely safe. But the worst impact is on those who are least responsible for it. We don’t have much role to play in bringing this crisis. But we are facing the harshest consequences. The glaciers are melting. The rain is becoming uncertain. Landslides are washing away houses. Floods and droughts come suddenly. But we are still adamant. Our emissions are minimal. They are almost insignificant. But our contributions to environmental protection are significant. Our Himalayas are nature’s own climate balance that erodes the entire region. ’
Prime Minister Oli said that although Nepal’s role in environmental protection is significant, it is facing more risk of climate change.
