Kathmandu. Nepal Chamber of Commerce has selected a representative for trade facilitation in Australia. Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Advisory Council, has signed the certificate of Honorary Representatives of the Chamber to NRN ICC Honorary Council Member and businessman Sanjiv Sharma.
At a special program organized in Australia, Advisory Council Chairman Shrestha congratulated and wished him well for the upcoming term along with the certificate of Honorary Representatives. Sharma was selected as an honorary representative to promote trade, tourism and investment between Nepal and Australia, according to a press release issued by the chamber.
The chairman of the advisory council, Shrestha, said that the representative was selected for trade facilitation because Australia has a significant Nepali population and is also important from a business perspective.
He said, “There is a good potential for exports from Nepal to Australia. In the current fiscal year alone, exports worth Rs 840 million have been made. Australia is a good market for exports of household and handicraft items, carpets, pasta and other items.”
Similarly Shrestha, Chairman of the Advisory Council, also urged non-resident Nepalis in Australia to bring investment back to the country. Honorary Representative Sharma of the Chamber pledged to take the initiative to bring investment and facilitate trade in Nepal.
Sharma said that he would take the initiative to promote exports through trade facilitation in Nepal. The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has been selecting representatives for trade facilitation and export promotion in various countries.
