Kathmandu. Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has called for infrastructure development and increased connectivity for tourism promotion.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the 3rd Buddhist International Travel Mart organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in Kathmandu with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
He suggested that the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation should be made more effective for connectivity. Stating that mart would help establish Nepal as a Buddhist tourism hub, Dhakal stressed the need to further refine mart and develop it as a brand for Nepal.
He stressed the need of developing Buddhist circuit by connecting Lumbini and Buddhist pilgrimage sites related to Buddha and pilgrimage sites in India for the promotion of Buddhist tourism.
Dhakal said that the entire dimension of Nepal’s tourism could be changed if buddhists from all over the world could visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, at least once and increase tourist arrivals accordingly.
Stating that nepal’s airfare is expensive and the government’s imposition of VAT on tickets has made the fare more expensive, he urged the government to review it.
Considering the huge potential of tourism in Nepal, Dhakal urged the foreign investors to invest in nepal as there is enough potential in the tourism sector.
