Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is on an official visit to Thailand, met with Thai businessmen in Bangkok today.

In the meeting, which was also attended by a Nepali business delegation, Prime Minister Oli urged Thai businessmen to invest in Nepal, stating that Nepal is a fertile land for investment. Prime Minister Oli had told Thai businessmen that many laws necessary for creating an investment-friendly environment in Nepal have been amended and revised, and the government will guarantee investment security.

He said that investment in Nepal can be made by understanding the private sector’s views on investment opportunities and prospects in Nepal and collaborating with the private sector. Similarly, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, who was also part of the delegation, said that Nepal has been reforming laws to create an investment-friendly environment, has good foreign exchange reserves, and has a comfortable environment for investment. He said that Thai businessmen can benefit from this environment when investing in Nepal as there are large neighboring countries like India and China with large populations for the post-production market.

He informed that Nepal has potential in tourism, energy, agriculture, information technology, and construction industries. “Nepal is a country with ample potential for investment. The recent policy reforms made by the government are attracting foreign investment. On behalf of the private sector, I also urge Thai businessmen to invest.” Chairman Dhakal said.

A Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister Oli is in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, from Chaitra 19 to 23 to pay an official visit to Thailand and participate in the sixth BIMSTEC summit. On Wednesday alone, Nepal and Thailand signed eight agreements, including two government and six non-government agreements.
