Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stressed that the government should address the demands of the agitating teachers immediately.
At a meeting today with a delegation of the agitating Nepal Teachers’ Federation demanding the immediate passage of the School Education Bill, he said that the legitimate demands of the teachers should not be ignored.
“No matter how many amendments have been registered now, some are of the same nature. “Even if a subcommittee is formed, we can move towards immediate passage,” he said, emphasizing the need for the bill to be passed immediately. “The main thing is willpower. The government should prioritize education and teacher issues.”
Stateing that there has been no unified view on the demands of teachers and the overall educational sector, Chairman Dahal urged the government to be serious in addressing the demands as education is the main basis of the country’s prosperity, according to his personal secretariat. He also expressed his commitment to the Maoist Center’s special role in getting the bill passed.
