Certificate course launched at Nabil Bank, Janakpur to promote social entrepreneurship

Janakpur. Nabil Bank Limited has launched the Nabil SSE ‘Certificate Course’ under the Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship at the Monastic Higher Secondary English Boarding School in Janakpur. The course was formally launched in the presence of Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh and Nabil Bank Chairman Upendra Prasad Poudel, among others, at a program organized on Saturday. According to the bank, 25 people have been selected in the first group for the course through open application.

Inaugurating the course, Chief Minister Singh praised the efforts launched by the bank with the aim of increasing social entrepreneurship. As banks have been emphasizing on building infrastructure of social importance under corporate social responsibility, Nabil Bank has started a certificate course for the development of entrepreneurship. “It is expected to be beneficial for those interested in entrepreneurship,” said Chief Minister Singh.

On the occasion, Dilaram Subedi, Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, said that the social entrepreneurship program launched by Nabil Bank under its corporate social responsibility was commendable. Addressing the participants of the first group of the certificate course, Nabil Bank Chairman Poudel said that the bank is not only focused on profit but also on bringing sustainable results. He also said that the bank has launched the Nabil SSE program targeting those who want to start a startup and those who have already started one.

Surendra Bhandari, President of Janakpurdham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that they are ready to support the program organized by the bank. Sonukumar Sah, Managing Director of Monastic Higher Secondary English Boarding School, said that such a program would give hope to the youth that they can do something in the country at a time when skilled manpower is migrating abroad from Nepal. He also expressed that the collaboration between Nabil Bank and Monastic School for this program is very commendable.

Nabil Bank has been conducting the course with the aim of providing necessary knowledge and guidance to new entrepreneurs who are interested in social entrepreneurship, have innovative thinking and are involved in the entrepreneurial sector. The first group of the course includes 12 women and 13 men from Janakpur, Mithila Bihari Municipality and Pirari Chowk. Three of them have contributed to areas such as Mithila Art, Art Gallery and Sikki Art. Five are focused on wholesale markets, pickles, electrical services, mattress production and online businesses, while two are in retail trade and one has started a business through organic fresh fruit farming.

A 14-day ‘action-based’ training will be provided under the three-month certificate course. Participants will receive training in topics such as promotion and marketing of their products. The course also includes experience exchange and field visits with experienced entrepreneurs and trainers at the regional and national levels. The school had called for open applications to participate in the program. It is stated that those who are determined to work in the field of entrepreneurship have been selected.

Nabil Bank Limited has been operating the Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship program under its corporate social responsibility. Currently, a fellowship program and a certificate course are being run under this program.

The fellowship program is being run in collaboration with the School of Management of Tribhuvan University, while the certificate course is being run by the Nabil Center for Social Entrepreneurship established by 11 educational institutions in all seven provinces. According to the bank, 866 people have participated in both programs so far. So far, 117 enterprises have been established and more than 1,200 people have been employed through both programs.
