Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee meeting: Emphasis on coordination from center to local level

Kathmandu. The Central Revenue Leakage Control Committee has emphasized the need for coordination and collaboration between the concerned bodies from the center to the local level to make revenue leakage control more effective.

In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, the coordinator of the committee, said that special attention should be paid to controlling illegal exports (imports) that may occur in the area around the customs point as well as through alternative routes, and that significant achievements can be achieved in controlling illegal transactions if all bodies are actively involved in a responsible manner.

Similarly, Finance Secretary Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire emphasized the need for uniformity in understanding among various bodies on issues such as the condition, classification and use of imported (exported) goods, and stressed the need to work on the basis of factual information. .

Revenue Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire said that it would be easier to control illegal transactions if the production and import of goods were regulated at the source, expressing confidence that the commitment made by the relevant officials in the committee meeting would be reflected at the implementation level as well.

The officials participating in the meeting pointed out the need for further initiatives for meaningful results, even though there has been gradual improvement in the control of illegal exports and imports. They emphasized the need to increase surveillance in the border areas, increase market monitoring, and prioritize the use of technology.

The committee meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Finance, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Department of Revenue Investigation, Department of Customs, Department of Inland Revenue, Department of Money Laundering Investigation, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department, among other agencies.
