Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist) MP Krishna Kumar Shrestha has accused cement industrialists of doubling the price of cement in collusion with the government. Speaking at the meeting of the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee under the House of Representatives held on Tuesday, MP Shrestha said this.
He said that the industrialists have doubled the price of a bag in collusion with the government to pay the electricity bill for trunk lines and dedicated lines, causing harm to consumers. He mentioned that the cement industrialists have increased the price of a bag of cement from Rs 450 to Rs 850 by cartelization. He said that the committee needs to give necessary instructions to control the price of cement.
Nepali Congress MP Ramesh Rijal said that the Electricity Trade Bill should not be brought to allow business to be done on the basis of advertisements on social media. He informed that in the Electricity Bill, entrepreneurs must have registered an online portal to do online business. He said that it is necessary to make arrangements to prevent online business from being done on social media including Facebook, TikTok, etc. registered by others.
Dolprasad Aryal, acting president of the National Independent Party, emphasized that the Electricity Trade Bill should be brought to protect small and medium entrepreneurs. He said that the syndicate will continue if small and medium entrepreneurs cannot be protected.
He said that the committee should immediately issue instructions to control the price increase of cement. He said that industrialists and businessmen have been cheating consumers.
