CCTV cameras installed in Parsa to prevent illegal smuggling

Parsa. CCTV cameras have been installed at eight different places here to control illegal smuggling and import. As per the decision of the local revenue leakage control committee meeting, eight CCTV cameras have been installed at chapkaia, Sirsia, Balirampur and Alau of Birgunj on Monday.

A team of employees and security personnel of Birgunj Customs Office on Sunday obstructed the installation of CCTV cameras at Chapkaia, Sirsia and other places of Birgunj Metropolitan City.

Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, Chief Customs Administrator of Birgunj Customs Office Deepak Lamichhane, Police Chief Gautam Mishra, Ganapati Radheshyam Dhimal of Armed Police Force Nepal 13 Battalion Headquarters, among others, were present on the occasion. Similarly, two CCTV cameras have been installed in Balirampur and two in Alau.

Cdo Aryal informed that a team led by the Coordinator of the Local Revenue Leakage Control Committee, CDO, reached the spot on Monday and installed the CCTV cameras.

“The meeting of the committee had decided to install CCTV cameras in the presence of a team of security personnel as per the decision taken by the committee,” he said. This will discourage import and export of goods and goods by evading customs duty. CDO Aryal said that with the installation of CC cameras, he hoped that those transporting illegal goods by evading customs would also help in controlling smuggling psychologically.

“We hope that the ill-treatment meted out to the security personnel by those bringing goods by evading customs duty will also be reduced,” he said, adding, “The way will be opened to take necessary legal action against those who go against the security personnel.” Birgunj Customs Office Chief Lamichhane said that in the first phase, the office has installed CCTV cameras by managing the budget from internal sources.

He said the office would continue to install CCTV cameras targeting the risky areas of potential theft, smuggling and smuggling. He informed that there is a plan to install CCTV cameras at small customs offices, checkpoints and other sensitive places of Parsa and Bara in the coming days.
