Bagmati. Hetauda: The Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Hetauda has filed a case against 47 businessmen. The case has been filed against 47 businessmen on the basis of the caffeine shown by the monitoring and testing of samples collected from the office and various division offices under it.
According to Office Chief Kashinath Ghimire, a case has been filed against three businessmen under the Food Hygiene and Quality Act on the basis of the caffeine shown in the monitoring conducted in the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS and the testing of samples collected. The office had filed cases against 44 traders in the previous fiscal year 2081/81 BS.
Chief Ghimire informed that a case has been filed at the district court concerned against the businessmen for adulterating the samples collected during the monitoring and selling expired goods during the test. Chief Ghimire said that in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, 483 food licenses were recommended, issued and renewed, 18 food license recommendations were issued and renewed, 90 food and grain samples were collected as per the Act and 183 samples were collected for food hygiene surveillance.
According to Ghimire, 85 samples that were found to be adverse during sample analysis have been asked to proceed with the legal process as per the rules, re-examine them and make improvements according to the standards, and make a commitment by making the entrepreneurs aware. According to Chief Ghimire, items worth Rs 1133,000, including those that expired, did not have level details and were inedible during the monitoring, inspection and implementation of the verdict by the judicial bodies, were destroyed in the presence of the stakeholders.
In the presence of people’s representatives, hoteliers and media persons, 13 hotels and restaurants operating in Sauraha Chitwan and other places have been upgraded and logos have been distributed. The office has also observed The World Food Hygiene Day from May 11 to 24 by organizing various programs.
