Birgunj. The Revenue Investigation Office in Pathlaiya has filed a case against two companies here, claiming revenue leakage of Rs 57.94 million.
According to Hari Prasad Sharma, Chief Investigation Officer of the Revenue Investigation Office, the company of Chandan Gupta, the operator of Amyra Vastralaya, and Sanjay Kumar Kurmi, the operator of Shivshanti Construction, filed a charge sheet in the temporary bench of the Janakpur High Court, Birgunj, on Wednesday, claiming revenue leakage.
Chandan Gupta of Jitpur Simara Sub-metropolitan City-7, the operator of Amyra Vastralaya, committed revenue leakage by submitting false details and trading in clothes without issuing a tax invoice, and has thus incurred a tax liability of Rs 16.56 million and Rs 16.56 million. He informed that a total of Rs 22.398 million 276 million has been recovered towards Value Added Tax, including Rs 58.37 million 683.
The said office has registered a charge sheet against the operator Gupta, demanding a fine of Rs 44.796 million 553 and imprisonment for the recovery of the amount as per Section 23 (1) of the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Act, 2052.
Similarly, Sanjay Kumar Kurmi of Birgunj Metropolitan City-16 has been charged with the crime of revenue leakage by Shiv Shanti Construction through double receipts and Rs 1.96 million 151 towards the amount and Value Added Tax. The charge sheet has been filed demanding a fine of Rs 5,998,428 and imprisonment of Rs 1,039,063, totaling Rs 2,999,214.
So far, 11 cases related to revenue leakage and eight cases related to foreign exchange embezzlement have been registered in the temporary bench. RSS
