Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari has said that the labor force cannot be organized unless the capital market is dynamic. He said this while addressing the Labor and Employment Conference held in Kathmandu on Monday.

He said that the productivity of the agriculture-based economy, which accounts for 13 percent of the national product, has decreased to five percent. He said that it is difficult and risky to invest in the industry and that industries such as pashmina, garment, carpets, which were established as Nepal’s brand in the past, have closed down. He said that the reason for the collapse of institutions including jute mills invested by neighboring countries should be found.

Minister Mandari said that the policy reforms made by the government regarding industry and entrepreneurship have raised hope. He said that issues that guarantee employment and encourage enterprise and entrepreneurship will be included in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

He claimed that the private sector has welcomed the policy reforms made by the government to turn the despair seen among the youth due to unemployment into hope. Minister Bhandari said that the issue of internal employment can be resolved if Nepal’s capital market, Nepal’s production with the labor market, and Nepal’s employment can be connected.
