Kathmandu. Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the budget for the upcoming fiscal year should be allocated on priority basis.
In a discussion on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2082/83 BS in the House of Representatives, he said that excessive investment in shares and land in the market could not bring proper results. Mahat suggested that emphasis should be laid on social justice, benefits of development and production-oriented development that would reach the common people in principles and priorities.
According to him, establishing a self-reliant economy by building a private sector friendly and competitive economy, coordinating with different levels of government, removing distortions seen in the public sector, spending capital expenditure on priority basis and increasing the participation of the private sector in legal institutional reforms through further reform programs to the private sector and advancing social security in a targeted manner have been included.
“We need to think about which sectors can be worked in and how they can be connected, there needs to be further discussion on how to give priority to agriculture, and priority should be given to Nepali products on customs issues as well,” he said. Lawmaker Mahat said that the private sector should be given priority in power generation. He believes that instead of running on the quality of the education sector, we should work towards opening a university.
Similarly, Lawmaker Mahat said that hospitals were not possible in every municipality and hospitals should be constructed within the gap of two or three municipalities. Stating that it was necessary to promote the information technology sector, he stressed the need for maintaining necessary discipline in the budget allocation.
