Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Renu Chand has said that the budget for the upcoming fiscal year has the influence of middlemen and the shadow of distorted capitalism has been seen. Chand made the remarks while presenting a notice of suggestions on the finance bill in the National Assembly meeting on Friday.
Recalling that socialism has been written in the constitution, she urged the government to adopt economic policies based on social justice and equality. Accusing the government of adopting double standards even in the tax policy, she demanded withdrawal of the amnesty given to those who did not pay electricity tariff and said that the new tax exemption should be discussed only after that.
She said, “You have also talked about electricity tariff. My finance minister has a question: Will you first waive the pardon for those who have not paid electricity tax or not? First, collect it and then talk about tax exemption. We have already said that the influence of middlemen has been seen in the budget. The effects of perverse capitalism have also been seen. It is natural for its shadow to come here. In spite of that, I hope that you will improve it keeping in mind socialism as it is written in the constitution. ’
Stating that it was not appropriate to impose luxury tax on gold, she urged the government to pay attention to practical matters as well.
